When it comes to myths and misconceptions almost every other industry has been on the radar of the critics. In recent years digital marketing has been a hot topic which led many of the doubters to further create fallacies among tech professionals which are not necessarily true.

As the world is stepping towards a more advanced digital age, digital marketing has not only been a part of marketing campaigns for big players but has become a necessity. And it is important to address this critical issue. We have taken a close look at the most common misconceptions over the internet. So stay tuned with us as we will address all the myths one by one.

Myth 1: SEM is not good for branding

Search engine marketing is cheaper and has a more specific targeting option as compared to the traditional way of marketing. Your ads will be only shown to people who are searching for data relevant to your niche and you pay only when someone clicks on your ad. You don’t get the same privileges in posting an ad in the newspaper or on a banner. Believe it or not but search engine marketing is the best way to promote your brand to the targeted audiences.

Myth 2: Digital marketing can generate quick results

All the big entrepreneurs around the world didn’t achieve success overnight, it took them hard work, strategic planning and consistency to reach where they are now. The same rule applies to digital marketing. If any marketing agency or a person will tell you that they will drive massive traffic on your website in just a week then they are lying to you. Digital marketing cannot bear instant results in a week, it takes time and consistent efforts to show the results. Just follow the right steps and wait patiently to achieve your business goals.

Myth 3: Content marketing isn’t necessary

If you want to attract people to visit your business page then you need high-quality content to keep your prospects interested and engaged on the search engine or social media platforms. Content is the backbone of every kind of business online, and with the proper content marketing, you can stimulate interest and generate leads for your services or products. Also if you are neglecting to post or share content on the social media platforms then you are probably losing a lot of business. It is estimated that in India there are about 70% of people using digital medium, that are active on social media. This is a big potential and only the right quality content with blogs, videos and social media posts, one can get the desired results. It’s best to focus on the quality and relevance of content in the digital world.

Myth 4: Digital marketing is not for small business

One very common myth that troubles digital marketers is that it’s not for small businesses. Digital marketing can be as effective and good for a small company as it would be for any big business. With the help of advanced targeting options available on online advertising platforms, you can specifically target people within your locality and for your type of business. Just select the right demographics to choose the specific location where you want to showcase your business with the right keywords relevant for your business and you are good to go. Also having a personal website of your business makes your firm look more professional, classy and trustworthy.

Myth 5: Bad reviews and ratings will harm your business

Let’s face the fact that no one likes bad reviews on their timeline. Just because you have a few bad reviews and ratings doesn’t mean that it will critically harm your business. Always reply and justify any bad or wrong feedback. However, it may definitely lower your trust score in the sight of few customers, but with your honest replies, justifications and commitment for improvement, you can gain it back eventually by improving your service and by responding positively to the critics in humble and a professional way. Ignoring the reviews will do you worse than good so make sure that you respond well and address to the bad ratings.
